The “SE. TOUR – SEnior
TOURism: Discovering European Territories through
Golf and
Wine” project’s main aim is to
enhance the touristic offer in the four involved Countries (Italy, Spain,
Portugal and France) through the involvement of minor touristic destinations,
but which are well-equipped with cultural heritage and golf courses.
It is going to last 15 months under
the coordination of an Italian company called Fandango Tour.
More specifically, the project intends
to promote the development of a transnational tourism
product for seniors (over 55) that
proposes an integrated approach to thematic tourism
development, in order to enhance
as much as possible ALL values and assets that the
local cultures can offer and in particular the
offer for the practice of golf and wine
tourism by valorising the
trails and routes through wine growing areas. Since both the
practice of golf and wine tourism
are not linked to a specific period of the year, the proposed
tourism product will also facilitate
tourism flows in the involved Countries during their
respective low and medium seasons.
This will be done by elaborating a special
touristic product where trails, routes and paths
for all areas are defined, following
a shared model that will give guidance to the local
tourism operators and interest
groups (tourism SME, wine growers, golf facilities).
Furthermore, the developed touristic
product will be made available through a dedicated
web-portal and mobile app where interested travellers
may easily plan their leisure trip,
discover destination ideas, get
information about golf, local cultures and vineries, flights,
hotels, car rentals and more, and
then book and purchase their trip.
·
Foster
the demand and supply of transnational tourism for seniors;
·
Enhance
equal access to less experienced travellers over 55
years of age;
·
Supporting
product lines specifically designed to motivate travellers
over 55 years of
age to visit destinations in the low
and medium seasons;
·
Create
an innovative tourism package for seniors, which will be available and
sustainable after the EU co financed
period;
·
Set
up and strengthen sustainable public-private European partnerships (PPP) to
contribute creating a European
domestic market for seniors in the long term through
the establishment of cooperation
between private and public entities within Europe
and not specifically limited to a partner‟s domestic market.
Specific objectives of the project
Ø
Create an innovative tourism
package for travellers over 55 years of age based on
the connection between the practice of golf and the
discovery of minor territories
through the culture of wine;
Ø
Stimulating the number of
visits and overnight stays to Europe‟s wine
areas in the
low and medium seasons;
Ø
Promotion of visits to wine
areas as a part of golf practice;
Ø
Offering a complete experience
to taste the charms of wine areas, including wine,
slow food, regional culture and cultural landscapes
(develop packages in
cooperation with SMEs);
Ø
Joint transnational
development of tourism products to stimulate cross-visits and
cross-selling.
The project is expected to design a transnational
tourism product specifically
addressed to senior people (over 55) that proposes an integrated approach to thematic
tourism development, by offering the practice of
golf and the discovery of territories
through the culture of wine, and to develop such product into four different
touristic
package (one per each involved Country).
Furthermore, the project will develop a dedicated web-portal
and mobile app where the
developed touristic products will be made available
and where interested travellers may
easily plan, book and purchase their vacation package
immediately and receive a
confirmation on reservation within 3 hours from the
request.
The proposed touristic product, developed in four
different packages, will be even tested by
at least 96 senior travellers
(24 per each travel, of which 12 at their own expenses), in order
to have, at the end of the project, an
evaluation report on the proposed touristic product
with eventual perspectives for further development and
adaptation to the market needs.
