Subject

On the Paris meeting of the Project the following subjects were treated:

1.      ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS AND DISSEMINATION EVENTS

For the administrative matters the project partners review the next steps which will be the Annual Progress review of 2013 the National Project Review of 2013 and the Final Report in 2014.

It was also decided due to the delay in most of the deliverables an in the development of the Nacodeal device to start the test to ask for a delay in the project in order to be able to have a functional device to perform the test and so, have more reliable results in them.

For this point ITCL will ask the commission which are the steps to be followed in order to get and amendment to the initial contract, and be able to ask for more time.

Another discussed point was the fact that during the updating of the patents in order to be able to patent the Nacodeal Device, a new patent was discovered that invalidates the possibility of creating our own patent for the device. The decision was to start focusing the efforts of the project partners in the dissemination of the results. The patent will be sent by ITCL to all the partners in order to consider it during the developments.

As final points new possibilities of dissemination were mentioned as 3 conferences to be given by Coss, the necessity of writing a technical Newsletter by the technical partners of the project (IBERNEX; IMAXDI and ITCL) all of them will write one article and it will be integrated by ITCL in the newsletter and uploaded in the web.

These articles will be sent by the partners to other technical magazines in order to publish at least one article each (IBERNEX; IMAXDI and ITCL) in the next 4 months.

ITCL will invite all the NACODEAL partners to the created linkedin group to start a discussion group for the next project steps.

Next project meeting was decided to take place during the AAL forum of this year in Louis De Geer Konsert & Kongress Norrköping, Sweden from the 24-26th of September 2013

Esenior and Cooss explained the different dissemination actuations performed presentation of NACODEAL at the “semaine bleue” – Oct; presentation of NACODEAL on “géronthecnologie.net”- Feb; presentation of NACODEAL at the “MSA conférence” – Apr; publishing of an article about NACODEAL A.R. in the Health magazine SenzaEtà; NACODEAL perspectives in Smart Cities and Communities project; publishing on NumeroZero Nov. 2012, newsletter for COOSS Marche members

2.      TECHNICAL OVERVIEW

WP3

The different tasks carried during the performance of WP3 were explained during the meeting. The difficulties found during the development of the system architecture were shown to the project partners during the meeting.

The algorithms for the NACODEAL device will have to perform 3 tasks in order to have an optimal functionality which are:

Bundle Adjustment. This class of algorithms aims compute a coarse 3D environment map, given a unordered collection of pictures, determining the camera position of each one, using common reference points. They can also take advantage of pre-computed environment maps obtained by SLAM (Simultaneous localization and mapping) algorithms, informing the camera location using a single image as query. This aspect of the project has been developed with good results.

Object/Scene Recognition. The algorithm in this class identifies objects or scenes computing descriptors from identifiable points of the scene, and comparing then with a database of candidate objects. They are intended to be used in the task of identification of reference objects and used for purposes of user location, context determination and camera calibration. This aspect has also been solved.

Tracking. Tracking algorithms determines the location of markers during a frame sequence, and determine the relative camera movement and position in relation of such objects. Those algorithms are intended to track position of the user in (near)real-time in the environment after a initial calibration stage. This aspect of the project has to be improved yet.

There is still work to do regarding the services base platform and the process map generation.

WP4

The It Communications Module architecture was explained during the project meeting. The interface and the on line platform was explained in detail and the project partners agreed in reviewing the acceptability during the testing performance.

The Nacodeal concept of social network was explained. Although actually it has been designed as a network where the elderly is not very active, during the meeting it was demanded to improve this aspect of the device. IMAXDI will be responsible of improving this aspect.

WP5

The different characteristics of the DCPAR and the picoprojector were given during the meeting, all the actions related to the conversation with the producers and the manufacturing strategy were debated during the project meeting.

The production cost of the prototypes was explained getting to the conclusion that 4 devices will be given as prototypes to make the tests and there is still budget to create another set of prototypes when different possibilities get tested. This prototypes will be delivered by IBERNEX.

There were different questions exposed for the prototypes that will be solved before the testing starts:

The size of the prototypes should be decrease by the use of new lenses, improvements in the Raspberry Pi connection with the rest of the elements to decrease the size of the device, use other picoprojectors with less resolution to decrease size and battery consumption, decrease the external protection, decrease the battery….

Ibernex will be responsible of these changes.

WP6

The deliverables created during the performance of wp6. Regarding the state of art study performed , the project partners decided to include a deeper study of the SOTA in Europe and in Spain.

Regarding the static contents and the dynamic contents that were also explained during the meeting, the project partners asked for a deeper description of the contents related to the different state of mental health of the potential users, providing an analysis of the dynamic test base on these studies.

WP8

The planning for the testing was explained by Cooss and Eseniors but due to the delay in the development of the devices it will be initially changed. The availability of a limited number of devices also forces some changes in the planning.
